Reprising his famous Saturday Night Live 2000 ‘More Cowbell’ skit, Will Ferrell showed off his musical talent alongside singer Marc Anthony at the 8th Annual Maestro Cares Foundation (MCF) gala Tuesday evening (12.07) in New York City.
The Saturday Night Live alumni and blockbuster movie star stole the show when the Hispanic musician invited the actor onstage during his performance of his classic “I Need to Know.” The band kept the Latin beat rolling when he signaled to someone off stage for more backup as as the comedian joined the band with his instrument of choice … the cowbell.
Playing the cowbell is a throwback to the 21 year old Saturday Night Live sketch where Ferrell portrayed a 1970’s Blue Oyster Cult rock band member whose sole purpose is to play the percussion instrument enthusiastically after Christopher Walken’s music producer character tells the band “I gotta have more cowbell!” actor
The annual gala raises funds for MCF in its mission to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged and orphaned children in Latin America and the United States.
