Eve’s DUI Helped Her Sanity

Arrested eighteen years ago while Driving Under the Influence, Eve recently admitted that the incident ultimately helped her.

After crashing her Maserati in Los Angeles, the now 46-year-old superstar singer hit the headlines in 2007 when she was taken into custody and charged with drunk-driving.

Born Eve Jihan Cooper, the musician has reflected on her past difficulties and has hinted that she credits her arrest for helping her turn her life around.

During her recent interview on Paloma Faith’s ‘Mad, Sad & Bad’ podcast, Eve said:

“I had to wear a tag.” “It monitors your body temperature and it can tell from your sweat if you’ve had alcohol. The anklet made me sane again because I couldn’t remember a time I hadn’t drank.”

Reflecting on what her life looked like at the time of her arrest, she added:

“I got into the car accident because I was drinking. But I was also taking Xanax on top of the drinking.” “I was trying to be numb. I was also trying to get skinny for videos. So when I got my DUI, I wasn’t that drunk, I was on diet pills.”

Explaining that her legal troubles ultimately helped to changes her life, the singer – who’s been married to Gumball 3000 founder Maximillion Cooper since 2014 – stated “It was such a bad time and that’s why I said that little anklet definitely helped me.”
