K-Pop Star Wheesung: Dead At 43

After he was found deceased in his Seoul apartment, local Investigators are looking into the unexpected death of Korean singer Wheesung.

Once emergency responders were contacted by his mother, who grew concerned when the singer failed to respond to her messages, Korean authorities confirmed that the 43- year old pop star (born Born Choi Whee-sung,) had been dead for a “significant amount of time” before his body was discovered. While local police suspect no foul play, the circumstances surrounding the musician’s premature passing remain unclear.

Under investigation is Wheesung’s prior struggles with Propofol, the powerful surgical anesthetic that contributed to the Michael Jackson’s tragic overdose and death in 2009.

After the musician was twice found unconscious due to the use of similar medications, in 2021 the Korean singer was handed a two-year suspended sentence for repeated abuse of Propofol.

On Tuesday (3.11,) the performer management agency, Tajoy Entertainment said “Artist Wheesung has left us,” adding that their staff and colleagues were “in deep sorrow”.

One of Korea’s most celebrated ballad singers, Choi had a string of hits including a popular cover of Craig David’s ‘Insomnia,’ and was slated to perform alongside singer KCM in the south-eastern city of Daegu this weekend.

In his final social media message, Wheesung announced the upcoming concert, writing “Weight loss completed. See you on 15 March.”

Police are reportedly planning to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
