In a recently posted YouTube video, former En Vogue singer Dawn Robinson revealed that she’s been living in her car for the past three years.
In her startling admission, the now 49-year old songstress said “For the past three – almost three years, I have been living in my car.” “I said it. Oh my God.”
Stating that that after living with her parents in Las Vegas in 2020, tensions forced her to leave, adding “I didn’t understand it. I still don’t and it hurt me,” she reflected on her decision to leave her parents’ house.
Robinson subsequently moved in with her former manager in Los Angeles, but with no success in finding her own home, she ultimately decided to research car life – and was impressed with the lifestyle.
“There’s a whole community of people who live in their cars and a whole community of people who live in their RVs and a whole community of people who live in their vans,” she shared. “And I loved what I was seeing. I just thought, Wow, these people. I could do this, I think.”
Dawn Robinson was an on- again, off-again member of En Vogue. The singer joined the band when they originally formed in 1989 and left in 1997. In 2002, she returned before leaving again in 2008 to pursue a solo music career.
