‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Wraps Up Tour At Carnegie Hall: Listen

Throughout its131 year existence, such musical icons as Duke Ellington, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young have all graced the legendary Carnegie Hall stage. And on Saturday evening (10.29), “Weird Al” Yankovic joined the ranks when his Ridiculously Self-Indulgent Ill-Advised Vanity Tour touched down in New York for its grand finalé.

Some five minutes into his set, Yankovic took a moment to soak it all in, and even wiped away what appeared to be a genuine tear. Stating “Let me just take a moment to enjoy this,” he told the 3,700 person capacity crowd that included his wife Suzanne Yankovic, manager Jay Levey, Questlove, and many fans who celebrated Halloween two days earlier by dressing up as Al. “It’s always been a dream of mine to one day come to Carnegie Hall and play a bunch of extremely unpopular songs” he added.

Unlike his prior tours, Yankovic did not spend the past six months on the road breaking out hit parodies like “Fat,” “Eat It,” and “Bedrock Anthem.” Much like his 2018 run of the same name, this trek is strictly for the faithful as it’s almost entirely on original tunes from his deep catalog.
