“Good afternoon loved ones. April 27, I’m dropping a gospel album on Death Row Records. It’s called Altar Call.”c “You heard it first. A gospel album, April 27. God is good. Won’t he do it?,” said Snoop in a video.
Having passed away in 2021, an image of Beverly, will serve as the album’s cover art and a glimpse of the track listing includes collaborations with the likes of Jamie Foxx, Jazze Pha, and Jane Handcock, among others.
In an interview for the Okayplayer website, the musician (born Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr.) addressed his decision to record the full length, stating:
“The spirit of my mother will forever live within me.” “This album is a reflection of what she has taught me – to use my voice and my platform to spread love and heal the world. Just another chapter out of the Bible of Love.”
With guest appearances from such artists as Faith Evans and Rance Allen, Snoop’s debut gospel album, Bible of Love, dropped in 2018.
