Closing out Valentine’s Day, on Tuesday (2.14) Lady Gaga took to her Twitter account and released the first image from the sequel to “Joker.”
Titled “Joker: Folie à Deux” the movie sequel photo shows Gaga’s character in an embrace with Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. nd the film’s director, Todd Phillips, who helmed the original “Joker” in 2019 posted the same photo to his Instagram page along with the caption, “Happy Valentines Day.”
Gaga worked with Phillips on her starring role in “A Star Is Born,” and scheduled for an Oct. 4, 2024 release date, filming for the Warner Bros. “Joker” sequel is underway in New York and Los Angeles.
What role the singer/actress will assume has yet to be confirmed, last summer’s teaser suggested that she may be starring as Batman villain Harley Quinn, a character most recently played in several DC movies by Margot Robbie.
The original “Joker” followed Phoenix’s troubled aspiring comic character, Arthur Fleck on his downward emotional spiral. Grossinf over $1 billion in worldwide box office, it became the highest-grossing R-rated film in history, earning 11 Oscar nominations and winning two awards, including Phoenix’s win for best actor and Hildur Guðnadóttir for best original score.
The sequel title, “Folie à Deux,” is a reference to a medical term for a mental illness shared by two people in close association.
