A former hairstylist for KISS has settled his wrongful termination lawsuit against the band.
On Monday (1.06,) lawyers in the case informed a judge that the case had been resolved, just weeks before the trial was set to begin.
According to his Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit, David Mathews alleged he was wrongfully fired by the iconic rockers as a hairstylist in 2022 after he was incorrectly accused of being the source of a magazine article talking about lax coronavirus protocol within the band.
Mathews maintained he urged the group to “force” Fran Stueber, a guitar technician for co-lead vocalist Paul Stanley, to get medical attention and that he told Stueber in front of some of the defendants that he needed to go to the hospital.
According to the KISS attorneys, Stueber had acted in violation of the written coronavirus protocols for their planned End of the World tour. They claimed he submitted a fake vaccination card and then refused to seek medical attention after contracting COVID-19, despite being repeatedly urged by band members and tour officials.
Stueber died in October 2021 at age 53.
Mathews also maintained in the suit brought in February 2023 that he was owed unpaid wages and overtime money.
