Now 81 year of age, legendary singer, Sir Tom Jones, shows no signs of slowing down and vows to continue performing performances until his body no longer allows it.
Though forever enthusiastic about his craft, the Welch man maintains that the days of ladies tossing their underwear at him while he’s on stage are long gone, as are his days of his gyrating and wearing tight pants. “I have strong bones and am reasonably fit, and as long as I have two bloody legs, I will continue to perform,” he explained. “I’m looking forward to live gigs since I enjoy singing in front of a large crowd. What is the purpose without them?”
The ‘What’s New Pussycat?’ singer explained in a recent interview: “The tight pants, open neck shirt, and people throwing things at me all went away with time.” “I’m more concerned with the way I sing than with the way I walk. You cannot stand there and proclaim, ‘I am Mr. Macho,’ because I am not. I’m not leaping about, but I have to say that I don’t feel 80.”
A judge on the UK version of The Voice since 2017 maintains that he is enjoying his senior years and can look back on his life and work with pleasure, particularly the time he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2005. “What I am most proud of is being knighted by the queen,” he stated. “When I was a youngster, performers were not recognized with medals. I just felt that if I could earn a living as a singer, I would be the happiest person in the planet, which I am, but you never consider being knighted. It’s a beautiful thing, and I had no idea it would happen.”
