Travis Scott Helps Houston Heal

Following the Astroworld Festival tragedy, event owner Travis Scott wants to help the people of Houston, Texas “heal,”

During the annual event staged at the NRG Park in November of 2021, a terrified crowd stampede occurred with ten fatalities with many others suffering injuries.Β

As part of an interview for Rolling Stone published on Wednesday, the musician (born Jacques Webster II,) discussed his desire to organize a future event in his hometown, stating:

“When I did that festival, I was trying to bring something to where I’m from, and when you look back, it’s like a time that was supposed to be so enjoyable just went wrong.” “I would love to heal that in the city. But I would also want people to be receptive (to it). I don’t want to force a reception.”

Adding that he believes there’s a “distorted view” of who he really is following the tragedy, the now 34-year old said “Sometimes when I read or even hear about some of the s**t that people write, I don’t even know if they believe it.” “I think there’s always been this distorted view of what I am. And it’s my responsibility just to keep showing what it really is.”

Accused of negligence and failure to ensure the safety of concertgoers, following the debacle, Scott, Live Nation, and several other parties have faced lawsuits over the incident. In June 2023, a grand jury decided not to bring criminal charges against the hip-hop star and others.Β

Since 2022, at least two civil lawsuits have been settled, though terms and damages have never been disclosed.
