Grammy-nominated producer involved with such hits as Travis Scott’s ‘Sicko Mode’ and Drake’s ‘Nonstop,’ Tay Keith was found dead on Thursday (6.18) in his Nashville apartment.
Though no cause of death was announced, local police confirmed the musician’s passing with:
“No foul play is suspected in the death of Brytavious Chambers, 29, also known as Grammy-nominated record producer Tay Keith. He was found dead in his Martin St. apt. this afternoon by officers performing a welfare check. His death is unclassified pending autopsy results.”
Born Brytavious Chambers, the award winning producer also worked with Eminem, Sexyy Red, Lil Baby, and co-produced a bonus track on Beyoncé’s live Homecoming album.
As a teenager, Keith began his career by posting songs to YouTube and hip-hop sites, before meeting rapper BlocBoy JB when he was 14 years old. The pair began working on songs together, before Tay broke into the mainstream with BlocBoy JB’s 2018 hit, ‘Rover,’ for which he was Grammy-nominated in 2019, and again in 2024 for Drake and 21 Savage’s ‘Rich Flex.’
Keith was named Producer of the Year at BMI’s R&B/Hip-Hop Awards three times, most recently in 2024 for his work on ‘First Person Shooter’ by Drake featuring J. Cole, ‘Meltdown’ by Travis Scott featuring Drake, ‘keeYee’ by Sexyy Red, and ‘Circo Loco’ by Drake and 21 Savage. He was also named BMI’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songwriter of the Year in 2018.
