Stepping out from in front of the camera, Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has signed on to direct a brand-new music video honoring the legacy of George Harrison.
Teaming up with a group of Canadian artists on the new stop-motion clip for the former Beatles’ 1973 hit ‘Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth.’ it took twenty stop-motion artists to build the entire project by hand, spearheaded by Toronto’s Nobody Told Me Studios in collaboration with Tye Down Pictures.
Portraying Mike Wheeler on the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, the 22-year-old actor/musician revealed how meaningful the project was to him, and describing the collaboration as a career highlight he said:
“To work with the Harrison family and bring this video to life with a team of incredible young Canadian artists has been a great honor.” “It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for this opportunity. George Harrison has and will continue to be a huge inspiration to me, and his work will live on forever.”
Executive-produced by the deceased musician’s son along with David Zonshine, Dhani Harrison said his father – who passed away from cancer in 2001 at the age of 58 – would have “loved” the creation, adding:
“Finn is one of the sweetest and most talented people I know of his generation, and he is the perfect person to direct a video for my dad.” “My dad would have loved this, and I hope his wonderful, creative, heartfelt ideas help this song reach another generation. Great job, Finn – we love you.”
The retrospective piece takes the viewer on a journey through Harrison’s private state, Friar Park, in Henley-On-Thames, including nods to the musician’s career throughout his abbreviated life.
