Following the shocking announcement of their breakup, fans and fellow artists flocked to create tributes to the iconic EDM duo Daft Punk. To pay their respects, Spotify has created an “enhanced playlist” of the recently disbanded electro-duo’s second album with archival footage, anecdotes, and additional info.
Accessible via Spotify’s Canvas and Storylines functions, the Discovery – Enhanced Playlist features never-before-seen original concept art and storyboards from Interstella 5555, Discovery’s animated companion film, as well as short clips from the movie that accompany each song.
Additionally, the duo’s unearthed 2001 interview with a Japanese magazine finds the duo breaking down their history, their creative process, and the idea behind their robot alter-egos that enhanced the mysterious behind the band’s Discovery phase.
In February Daft Punk revealed their breakup via the Epilogue video that announced the end of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter’s partnership. Following the announcement sales surged 2,650%, with streams exceeding 500%; Discovery was the band’s most-streamed album during this period. As for Daft Punk’s other projects, Homework and their first-ever live full album Alive 1997 have been re-issued on vinyl via EMI.
