On Wednesday (12.03,) Spotify crowned Bad Bunny as their artist of the year.
With more than 19,800,000,000 streams to his credit, the superstar Puerto Rican rapper/writer, who’s slated to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February, is the world’s most-played artist of 2025.
Beating out fellow mega-stars musicians, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake and Billie Eilish, it’s the fourth time the Latin superstar has held Spotify’s global streaming title, after dominating the list in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Born Benito Martínez Ocasio, the 31-year old musician also topped the global albums chart with his 2025 release, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, while his 2022 LP, Un Verano Sin Ti, came in at #10.
In addition to the #1 slot, Spotify’s Top 5 full length list included KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, Hit Me Hard and Soft by Eilish, SOS Deluxe: Lana by SZA and Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter.
On Spotify’s Top5 global songs chart, Bunny peaked at#5 with ‘DtMF,’ along with Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s duet ‘Die With a Smile’ who enjoyed 1,700,000,000+ streams, followed by Eilish’s ‘Birds of a Feather,’ ‘APT,’ by Rosé and Mars and ‘Ordinary’ by Alex Warren.
In the United States, Swift took first place on Spotify’s top artist list, with Bad Bunny coming in fifth, as Kendrick Lamar and SZA had the most popular song with ‘Luther,’ and Morgan Wallen’s I‘m the Problem was the most-played LP.
