After being hospitalized for a “very serious” bout of sepsis, former Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee is recovering nicely.
Taking to social media Thursday (1.02,) the Swedish musician posted a photo of himself sitting with his legs resting on a chair while holding a pair of crutches. In his facebook caption the artist (born Micael Delaoglou) confirmed that, in mid-December, he was taken to the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in his hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden after experiencing ankle issues.
“This holiday season, I have been hospitalized with a very serious blood infection (Sepsis). I was admitted for three weeks but now I am home fighting this b**tard bacteria,” and noting he received “fantastic care” from his medical team, Mikkey added “So thanks a million to all the Doctors and Nurses that have been giving me the most excellent care.”
Facing months of rehabilitation, Dee is now recovering at home, but despite his health issue, the rocker plans to rejoin fellow heavy metal band Scorpions for a residency in Las Vegas scheduled to begin on February 27.
“We have a tremendous 2025 to look forward to, celebrating 60 years of Scorpions and many exciting giggs (sic) around the world.” “So, the Stinger is out and I can’t wait to see you all out there on the road and rock the hell out of you! I wish everybody a fantastic 2025 with good health and lots of Rock n’ Roll!,” wrote the 61-year-old stick man.
After Motörhead disbanded in 2015 following frontman Lemmy Kilmister’s death, Mikkey joined Scorpions in 2016.
