Having not released an LP since Journey to Freedom in 2014, Michelle Williams works on new music in between her Death Becomes Her stage performances and public speaking engagements.
Instead of feeling the pressure of having to release a new new album in the immediate future, the now 45-year old singer/actress is just seeing what happens in the studio.
In a recent interview with Variety, the former member of Destiny’s Child said:
“I’m working with someone to possibly do an EP or something.” “I don’t want to do it (as) an album – I don’t think. You say that and then before you know it, you have 12 songs. We will see. I’ve just been enjoying using my gifts in other ways to impact people.” “But sometimes a hit song is a nice thing to have every now and then.”
It was in 2002 that the Williams dropped her debut album, Heart To Yoursm followed by Do You Know in 2004, Unexpected in 2008 and Journey to Freedom in 2014.
Since November, the thespian/songstress has starred as Viola Van Horn in eight shows a week in the Broadway musical adaptation of the 1992 film Death Becomes Her. A when she’s not playing lead on the Great White Way, Williams speaks publicly about mental health, a topic she addressed in her 2021 memoir Checking In: How Getting Real About Depression Saved My Life – and Can Save Yours.
