Taking to social media to share her “weight release” goal, Lizzo addressed the holistic, well-rounded approach to weight loss.
Captioning “I did it!” along with a photo of her wearing a crop top and leggings, the post included “Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven’t seen this number since 2014!” “Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!”
The photo of the now 36-year old superstar rapper/writer also included details of her specific weight loss statistics, her lowered BMI (Body Mass Index) by 10.5 and the loss of 16% of her body fat since starting her new healthy lifestyle in January of last year.
Despite the multi-award winning singer’s prior focus on body positivity, in a 2024 New York Times interview, Lizzo explained that she now prefers to think in terms of body neutrality, stating:
“The idea of body positivity, it’s moved away from the antiquated mainstream conception.” “It’s evolved into body neutrality.” “I’m not going to lie and say I love my body every day. The bottom line is, the way you feel about your body changes every single day. There are some days I adore my body, and others when I don’t feel completely positive.”
Revealing that she had been “methodical” about her weight loss, the artist (born Melissa Viviane Jefferson) added “I’m taking the time every day to put some love into my body. There is never a day when I regret taking a walk or doing some Pilates.”
