With a cover that “celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful”, the artwork for Halsey‘s latest album has been revealed.
Produced by Grammy Award winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the pop star’s fourth studio album “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power,” is rumored to be the star’s tribute to “punk rock”. Taking to Instagram, Halsey revealed the release date for her follow-up to 2020’s “Manic,” and with a short film shot at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The singer also shared the completed artwork on social media, along with additional details about the project stating: “This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth.” “It was critical to me that the cover art reflected the mood of my journey over the previous few months. The Madonna and the Whore as a duality. “The concept of me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and a gift to my child can coexist peacefully and powerfully. In the last several years, my body has belonged to the world in a variety of ways, and this picture is my method of recovering my autonomy and establishing my pride and strength as a life force for my human being.”
“The artwork celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired,” Halsey added. “We have a long way to go with eradicating the social stigma around bodies & breastfeeding.” I’m hoping that this is a positive start in the right direction!” “This album is very much a document of her life, her love, her pain, her hope, presented with all barriers down,” stated in a four-star review of last year’s ‘Manic.’ “Halsey’s earlier conceptions were both intriguing in their own right, but by paring back the storylines to their very personal core, she has created an album that is both exciting and sensitive, and her greatest effort yet.”
In March, Halsey informed her followers that her pronouns would now be she/they,”The inclusion of ‘they’ in addition to ‘she’ feels most authentic to me.” “If you know me at all, you understand how important it is for me to express this publicly. “Thank you for always being the best.”
