According to multiple reports, on Thursday (2.01,) Darius Rucker was arrested on drug charges in Williamson County, Tennessee, and was released on a $10,500 bond.
Country music superstar singer/songwriter and former frontman of the 1990s pop group Hootie & the Blowfish, Rucker was charged with simple possession, casual exchange, and violation of registration law, according to local news outlet WSMV.
In a statement about the incident, Darius’ lawyer, Mark Puryear said “Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges.”
Scheduled to hit the road on May 30 with with Hootie & the Blowfish this summer on the band’s Summer Camp With Trucks tour in Dallas, Texas, Darius and his band mates Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, and Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, will launch there first full trek since 2019.
Joined by his bandmates, Rucker received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December of 2023 at which time the musician said “This is stuff you don’t even dream about when you’re from South Carolina.” “You know, struggling, growing up, and just wanting to be a singer — that’s all I ever wanted to be was a singer. But you never dream that this stuff is going to happen…To be here, right here with a star on the Walk of Fame…it’s the biggest thing that’s happened to me.”
