Charlie Puth Discusses Sobriety

Because it “clouds (his) judgment,” Charlie Puth has decided to stopped drinking alcohol.

In an interview for Rolling Stone, the superstar singer/songwriter discussed his moment of clarity concurrent with the 2022 release of his third studio album Charlie.

After have a “rager” in New York City one night, the New Jersey native woke up with the “worst hangover” the next day.

“It lasted for, I think, two days. And I saw pictures of myself with people I didn’t even know.” “It’s hard to describe, but after years of surrounding myself with the wrong things and saying the wrong things, it’s profound when it just all comes to a screeching halt one day at 30 years old in New York City,” said Puth.

Emphasizing that he doesn’t “drink at all” now, the 34-year old said “I think it clouds my judgment.”

Addressing some of the “cringe” moments he had during the early days of his career, including wearing a fake lip ring and dyeing his hair blond, the Grammy award winner said:

“I made tons of mistakes along the way. The blond hair was really bad. I don’t know what I was thinking there.” “I can’t even look at myself half the time from the years 2015 to 2022. I just didn’t know what I was doing. I used to be very cringe.”

Puth is preparing to sing America’s National Anthem at the Super Bowl on February 8 and set to release his fourth studio album, Whatever’s Clever!, on March 27, and his wife Brooke Sansone is due to give birth to the couple’s first child in March.
