Chaka Khan Drops ‘Woman Like Me’ Ballad: Look + Listen

Now 69, the legendary Chaka Khan has released her “hardcore real” new single, ‘Woman Like Me’.

Addressing the fiery power ballad that speaks to “both sexes” she said:

“When I heard it, I was like, ‘Wow. I could’ve wrote this. I should have written this.” “It’s talking to girls right now. Men and women, right now.” “And when you can find a song that can talk to both sexes equally, you know … and this song does. It’s like a woman talking to a man,” adding “This song is more meat-and-potatoes and to the point. You know, it’s hardcore. It’s more ‘hardcore real’ reality. And that’s what attracted me to the song.”

In an interview with ‘Good Day Atlanta,’ The Queen of Funk discussed touring and how she’s had to design her own “comfortable” stage outfits saying “I had to go back there because I was not happy with what I felt was expected of an entertainer today. ” “I just want to be comfortable right now. I’m trying to stay on stage, and not fall off the stage!”

The iconic singer/songwriter (born Yvette Marie Stevens) also addressed her experience working with Ariana Grande on ‘Nobody’ (2019) for the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ reboot soundtrack. Not interested in repeating the experience, in 2020 she said: “F*** that. She’s all right, she’s good on her own. Plus, I don’t want to sing with another woman. I ain’t got nothing to say with a woman.” “And we ain’t gonna talk about no man, we ain’t gonna talk about none of that stuff. It’s not happening. I’m not gonna do no song with no heifer.”

Chaka’s last studio album was 2019’s ‘Hello Happiness’ and last summer, she was featured on ‘Fabulosity’ for Todrick Hall’s album.
