Scheduled for October 15, Cher will headline the revitalized Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
On Tuesday (9.17) the mega-fashion brand confirmed the music legend will lead an all-female line-up of artists performing at the company’s first runway showcase in the last half decade.
Taking to their Instagram account, the iconic woman’s clothing brand wrote:
“It’s a woman’s world, so it’s understood that you can’t have a fashion show without the mother of fashion herself-@Cher!” “But she won’t be alone…stay tuned, more announcements are coming to round out our first-ever, all-women line-up.”
Marking a huge comeback, next month’s showcase will be held at the Victoria’s Secret flagship store in New York City.
What was once an annual event, until the brand started losing popularity in the face of competition, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was watched by millions on television, and featured high-profile models wearing lingerie and oversized angel wings. However, the runway spectacles were cancelled in 2019 following a backlash over the brand’s lack of diversity and inclusivity.
Taking to Instagram in May, Victoria’s Secret revealed their iconic showcase would be making a comeback, posting:
“We’ve read the comments and heard you.” “The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is back and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love – the glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment and more. Stay tuned…it only gets more iconic from here.”
Models Gigi Hadid, Tyra Banks and Candice Swanepoel will return for next month’s show and Cher’s appearance follows in the footsteps of fellow music superstars Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez each of whom have performed at prior events.
