Carrie Underwood Announces First Gospel Album, ‘My Savior’

With the March 26th release of her next album, My Savior, Carrie Underwood steps away from her country / pop music roots with a foray into the gospel realm.

My Savior will feature traditional gospel hymns Underwood grew up singing, with the artist stating that it is a “spiritual companion” to her holiday album. “It’s been such a blessing to make music like this, inspirational music that is near and dear to my heart,” Carrie said. “These two albums have been on my musical bucket list since the beginning of my career and were planned long before the events of the past year, but somehow it feels like the perfect time to share these beloved songs with the world.”

Co-produced by Underwood and Grammy-winner David Garcia, the latter is a noticeable addition given his roots in Christian music, with nine Dove Awards and writing credits on three ASCAP Award winners for Christian Music Song of The Year. Check out the announcement clip for My Savior.
