In “Time To Walk,” the brand new online service offered by Apple, users can listen to some of their favorite artists as they go on hikes, speaking to fans as if they’re walking side-by-side.
The feature is being billed by Apple as “an inspiring new audio walking experience” which has been “created to encourage users to walk more often and reap the benefits from one of the healthiest activities.” Fitness+ subscribers can tune in to a series of episodes presented by the likes of country icon Dolly Parton and pop singer Shawn Mendes as they “share thoughtful and meaningful stories, photos, and music” designed to accompany end-users during their step-by-step work-outs.
With so many of us living a cloistered existence due to COVID concerns, walking is generally one’s only exercise option short of buying home workout equipment. The new Apple platform is a way to encourage listeners to get outside for activity and reduce loneliness along the way.
In addition to Parton and Mendes, NBA player Draymond Green and Emmy Award winner Uzo Aduba have also contributed “Time To Walk” episodes and new chapters from different guests will appear in the Workout app on the Apple Watch each Monday through the end of April.
