Carl Dean, Dolly Parton‘s husband of nearly six decades has passed away at the age of 82.
Taking to social media the superstar songstress/business woman shared the news via Instagram, writing:
“Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82.” “He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending. He was survived by his siblings Sandra and Donnie.” “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.”
Parton and Dean were married on July 20, 1942 in Georgia and were was notoriously private, with Dolly even joking that Carl had only ever seen her perform once. However, behind closed doors, her spouse was romantic, with Parton recounting how he was spontaneous and would surprise her with sweet gestures and even wrote her poems.
In 2011, the multi-Grammy award winner said “We’re really very proud of our marriage.” “It’s the first for both of us – and the last.”
The Grammy-winning country star and her loved ones have “asked for privacy during this difficult time”.
