BTS’s Suga Fined $11.5K

Penalized for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated, K-pop star Suga has been fined $11,500.00

According to last week’s decision by a judge at the Seoul Western District Court in South Korea, the BTS bandmate was fined the equivalent of 15 million won over the incident and his license has already been revoked.

Last month, the now 31-year-old superstar singer was discovered by police after he’d fallen off an e-scooter near his home in Seoul and a subsequent breathalyzer test confirmed his blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.227%, well above the legal 0.08% limit.

Following the incident, the musician (born Min Yoon-gi) took to social media, apologized for his behavior and explained that he thought it was okay to use the e-scooter because he forgot that you can’t use one “under the influence” and he was only traveling “a close distance”.

“Although no one was harmed and no property was damaged, this is entirely my responsibility with no excuses.” “I apologize to those who have been hurt by my carelessness and wrongful behavior, and I will ensure that this does not happen again in the future,” wrote Suga.

With seven BTS band members currently carrying out their mandatory military service, Suga was ruled unfit for traditional combat duty and therefore works as a social service agent.
