Born Kim Tae-hyung, BTS‘ V admits to experiencing hearing loss in his right ear for some two-and-a-half years.
Going public for the first time, on August 12, the K-Pop superstar addressed the issue during the Weverse livestream, stating “If the hearing in my left ear is at 100, it’s only about 30 in my right.”
With the belief that the hearing loss had worsened while completing his military service in South Korea, the singer initially tried to dismiss the issue as “a matter of mental strength” before seeking medical help. He is now taking medication and regularly attending hospital visits for treatment.
With all seven members of the iconic group having now completed their government-mandated stint, V and bandmate RM ended their military service in June of 2025.
It was during the same livestream that Jungkook revealed that he has been managing a shin injury during the BTS Arirang world tour, that resulted in him sitting out some concerts, adding:
“There’s a lot of inflammation in my shin, and I think there’s some microdamage to the bone.” “I’ll be careful with myself so I can finish this tour properly.”
The BTS North American leg of the tour continues into September before the group heads off to Latin America, Asia and Australia, with the trek wrapping up at the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan on March 16, 2027.
