In her just-released visual, Miranda Lambert has coupled her new breakup anthem “Wranglers” with a music video that makes the song’s lyrics come to life.
Directed by longtime collaborator Trey Fanjoy, the somber imagery follows the superstar singer/songwriter and her pals consoling a friend following a breakup with the group holding a ceremonial bonfire of the ex’s belongings and proving that, in fact, “Wranglers take forever to burn.”
The country musician’s “Wranglers” video recalls Lambert’s breakout 2005 single “Kerosene,” as the singer uses a replica can of kerosene and the same book of matches from that song’s video for the “Wranglers” visual. The new video re-introduces co-stars Lambert’s childhood pal Laci and actress Elle Lamont, who previously appeared in Miranda’s “If I Was a Cowboy” video.
About the project, Lambert previously stated:
“Wranglers’ is classic tale of a woman taking her power back.” “I think we can all identify with the character in this video, because we have all had a time in our life where we needed to find our strength, and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us. This offers such a cool, raging take on how something like this unravels; I am so proud to sing this song.”
It’s expected that “Wranglers” will be the first single from Lambert’s forthcoming 10th studio album, and her first LP since 2022’s Palomino.
Currently on the road, Lambert delivered a standout performance at Stagecoach earlier this spring, with help from special guest Reba McEntire, who performed her own “Fancy” and two of Lambert’s songs, including “Gunpowder & Lead.”
