Thanks to the success of Saltburn, the original 2001 pop disco version of “Murder on the Dancefloor” by Sophie Ellis-Bextor is enjoying a massive resurgence and the Pnau remix dropped early today (2.09.)
Charting at #57 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, the new extended version will remind the listener of Daft Punk’s “Around the World.”
With its remix of Elton John and Dua Lipa’s “Cold Heart,” the Australian producer previously spent 36 weeks at #1 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs list in 2022.
On February 12, Ellis-Bextor will make her American late night TV debut when she performs “Murder on the Dancefloor” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The UK-born musician recently dropped a seven-track Murder on the Dancefloor EP including the original version and its original B-side “Never Let Me Down,” along with extended mixes and remixes that were all originally released 23 years ago.
