In response to his request, Nicki Minaj has declined Kanye West‘s ask to put their ‘New Body’ collaboration on his forthcoming full length.
On Friday (12.15,), West contacted Minaj via X/Twitter requesting she sign off on her ‘New Body’ verse contribution to be included in his Vultures LP along with a screen grab of a text message which read “Hi it’s Ye. May I call you about clearing new body on the new album.”
In an Instagram Live chat, Nicki insisted that she didn’t want the old collab to come out concurrent with her new album, Pink Friday 2, which was released last week, stating “Chile, that train has left the station, OK?” “No disrespect in any way, I just put out a brand new album. Why would I put out a song that has been out for three years? Come on, guys.”
Though the embattled rapper has yet to respond, earlier last week he played ‘New Body’ featuring Nicki’s verse during a Vultures listening party in Miami.
In 2018, the two superstar rappers initially recorded the song with Ty Dolla $ for the Gold Digger musician’s Yandhi LP. Whle the project was eventually scrapped, the song’s demo was leaked online.
In a 2022 Hot 106 interview, Minaj stated that “the ship has sailed” for the song, adding “The public adored New Body. Like, New Body is the biggest hit record that never came out.” “Everybody knows that’s the hit that got away.”
While Kanye’s collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ was initially scheduled for a Friday (12.15) release, Vultures has yet to come out.
