Honoring her 78-year old father, Scott Swift, who underwent quintuple bypass surgery after doctors discovered five blockages in his heart, Taylor Swift has donated $1,000,000.00 to the American Heart Association.
On Tuesday (12.23,), the charity’s executive officer Nancy Brown took to social media thanking the superstar singer/songwriter for her massive personal contribution, writing:
“Taylor Swift’s remarkable generosity will create lasting change far beyond its financial value.” “Her commitment to supporting her father will make so many others aware of the need to take their own heart health seriously, strengthen prevention efforts, and improve controllable risk factors – ultimately helping more people live longer, healthier lives.”
Adding that the funds will support a number of initiatives – including research, public education, CPR training, and the development of medical guidelines – the AHA official stated:
“Taylor has long been associated with the symbol of heart hands. At the American Heart Association, we proudly use that same gesture to honor all who have been affected – our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, spouses, and so many others. My hope is that together we can raise our collective heart hands and drive meaningful change against this disease, shaping a healthier future for generations to come.”
Not the only charity the Grammy award winner contributed, earlier Tuesday, Feeding America chief executive Claire Babineaux-Fontenot confirmed via Instagram that the 36-year-old songstress had also donated $1,000,000.00 to the non-profit network of food banks, writing:
“We are incredibly grateful for Taylor Swift’s $1 million gift to Feeding America.” “This holiday season, her continued support is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we unite to end hunger. When we join together alongside people facing hunger, we can make sure families have a full table this holiday season and beyond.”
At press time, Taylor Swift has not publicly commented on the donations.
