Billie Eilish Is Apple Music’s Artist Of The Year

In recognition of the singer-songwriter’s extraordinary impact throughout 2024, Billie Eilish is Apple Music’s Artist of the Year,

Following the superstar singer/songwriter’s historic second Academy Award win and two additional Grammy accolades for her “What Was I Made For?” contribution to the Barbie film, Eilish dropped her third LP, Hit Me Hard And Soft. Both vulnerable and bold, Billie’s latest album reflects the sound of a generation and the best music of her career. Upon its release, the full length went #1 on Apple Music’s all-genre albums chart in 138 countries worldwide.

The now 22-year old musician continues to made her presence known performing her hit “Birds Of A Father” at the closing ceremony of the summer Olympic games this August, driving her biggest day ever for Shazam in the process. Billie collaborated with Charli xcx on “Guess,” and is currently headlining the sold-out Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, which will extend her massive year well into 2025.

In addition to being nominated for seven more Grammy Awards this year – including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year – the Los Angeles-born artist has also become the first person to earn Apple Music Artist of the Year honors two times, after winning in 2019.

In a statement about the 2024 artist of the year, Apple Music’s senior director of content and editorial, Rachel Newman said:

“From the moment we first heard ‘Ocean Eyes’ nearly a decade ago, we’ve been fans and champions of Billie’s work.” “It’s always special when a young artist can connect with so many people so quickly. But what’s been truly remarkable about watching her evolve over the course of this last year isn’t just that her voice and artistry have continued to resonate so widely. It’s that she’s blossomed as bravely and honestly as she has — on her own terms, in her own way.”

In response Billie Eilish said “Since day one, Apple Music has supported my music and artistry, and I am both honored and humbled to receive this recognition as Artist of the Year this many years into my career.”
