Before committing himself full time to music, Pharrell Williams recalled being fired from his one and only job.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 2, the now 51-year-old Grammy award-winning star worth an estimated $250,000,000 said:
“McDonald’s was my first and only job.” “I got fired three times. I was eating the chicken nuggets. I have to say, I found the sweet and sour sauce and the chicken nugget a pretty combination. It got me in trouble. I got fired three times but not for the same thing.” “The first two times it was just because I was lazy. The third was like, ‘What are you doing? You’re just sitting there eating nuggets?’?”
Notwithstanding his short lived career in the fast food industry, the current superstar singer/songwriter burst onto the music scene in the early 2000s as a solo artist, music producer, and member of two bands. Williams’ groups the Neptunes and NERD enjoyed significant chart success prior to his solo career saw him top both the singles and albums charts.
In addition to his own work, Pharrell has produced worldwide hits for the likes of Kanye West, Ed Sheeran, Madonna and Rihanna.
Outside of the music business, multi-hyphenate has built a fashion empire with his Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream footwear fashion lines – and since February 2023 has been the men’s creative director of iconic French fashion house Louis Vuitton.
