Zayn Malik Addresses One Direction Racism In Song: Look + Listen

In his new offering ‘Fuchsia Sea,’ Zayn Malik sings about the racism he faced during his One Direction days.

Taking to social, the now 32-year old musician previewed his new new rap song via Instagram.

In the lyrics, Malik alludes to the racism he faced while a member of the band with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and the late Liam Payne.

“Got my back against the wall so much they think I got a brick fascination / Do you remember every conversation? ‘Cause I have been conscious of every connotation.” “And while they concentrate on their elevation, I’ve got a round trip to the constellation / I’m a convert to the concert, and I did that for inflation, ’cause I worked hard in a White band, and they still laughed at the Asian,” recited Malik.

A member of the iconic boy band from 2010 to 2015, Malik’s streaming teaser marks the 10th anniversary of his exit from One Direction back in March. At the time, the British-born singer/songwriter said that he felt the need to pursue his own career and experience a more normal life outside the spotlight of the band. He also mentioned underlying issues within the band’s friendships.
