Coming clean about the pressures involved with being the child of a celebrity couple, Willow Smith has admitted to feeling some “insecurity” about being being a “nepo baby.”
The only daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith believes that having famous parents has made her work even harder to achieve her goals.
In a recent interview with Allure magazine, the now 23-year old said “I definitely think that a little bit of insecurity has driven me harder because people do think that the only reason I’m successful is because of my parents.” That has driven me to work really hard to try to prove them wrong. But nowadays, I don’t need to prove s**t to anybody.” “I truly believe that my spirit is a strong spirit and that, even if my parents weren’t who they were, I would still be a weirdo and a crazy thinker.”
Making her acting debut at 7 years old, alongside her famous father in the movie ‘I Am Legend,’ Willow also released her platinum selling song, ‘Whip My Hair’ when she was just 10. And about being so young when the song took off, she added “I was totally scarred,” she said of being so young when the song took off. “But so many Black girls and women were inspired by that.”
Willow Smith’s sixth album Empathogen is scheduled for release on May 3.
