Due to severe weather, Miami’s Ultra Music Festival was forced to curtail the opening day festivities.
Recommending that attendees bring ponchos and raincoats prior to the festival opening on Friday (3.22,) the event organizers warned all attendees that they were anticipating rain. And come nightfall, the rain was accompanied by strong winds and lightning, forcing organizers to “temporarily” shut down the festival at Miami’s Bayfront Park.
Following the the evacuation, the severe weather caused Ultra’s opening night to be called off when the National Weather Service issued a tornado and flash flooding warning with the event organizers taking to social media with “Severe weather is still in the area,” “We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.”
Among the talent impacted by the impromptu cancellation. were sets by Hardwell, Fisher X Chris Lake Present Under Construction, and Armin Van Buuren.
With an estimated two-to-three inches drenching the area near the festival grounds, the rain continued well into Saturday morning but cleared up by Saturday afternoon with Ultra Music Festival’s Saturday plans continuing as scheduled with David Guetta, Martin Garrix, RL Grime, Peggy Gou, Gryffin, Steve Aoki and more booked that day.
