In honor of the 30th anniversary of the superstar girl group, Great Britain will issue a commemorative set of Spice Girls stamps.
Marking the iconic band’s milestone anniversary, fifteen stamps are being printed by Royal Mail in the United Kingdom.
In a statement about being the sixth music group to be featured in a dedicated stamp collection, the iconic girl group said “We are so excited to be celebrated by Royal Mail, alongside some of the most iconic and influential music legends. When we formed the Spice Girls we couldn’t have dreamt that 30 years later we would be the first female group to be dedicated an entire stamp collection, that’s Girl Power!”
Including the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics and their 1997 Brit Awards performance, ten of the postage stamps will feature a selection of the British group’s performances from 1997 to 2012.
Additional stamps images will include Geri Halliwell-Horner in her iconic Union Jack dress and Victoria Beckham performing during The Return of the Spice Girls Tour at Madison Square Garden in New York City in 2008. The remaining five stamps feature individual images of the singers from a photoshoot from Spice World, the group’s 1997 musical comedy movie.
While prior stamp issues include musicians The Beatles (2007,) Queen (2020,) and The Rolling Stones (2022,) this will be the first time Royal Mail has dedicated stamps to a female pop group.
Professionally known as Posh (Victoria,) Ginger (Geri,) Baby (Emma Bunton,) Sporty (Melanie Chisholm,) and Scary Spice (Melanie Brown,) the iconic band formed in 1994, but officially disbanded in February of 2001 to pursue solo projects.
The Spice Girls collection of stamps will be available for purchase as of January 11.
