In advance of the event Harris’ campaign officials told CNN that the Migos-member (born ?) would perform at the event and would speak about gun violence, a topic that brought him into the political fray following the shooting death of his late nephew and fellow bandmate Takeoff in 2022, and endorse the presumptive Democratic nominee.

In his speech, the superstar rapper encouraged the event attendees to register to vote and stressed how crucial Georgia is to an electoral college victory in November.

Along with Quavo, Harris’ rally at Georgia State University’s Convocation Center in Atlanta featured a performance from Megan Thee Stallion

Quavo’s endorsement of Harris as her presidential campaign gets underway comes as no surprise as the musician has worked closely with the vice president on a handful of occasions as has embraced his role as a prominent anti-gun violence advocate. Addressing Takeoff’s death In 2023, Quavo visited Washington D.C. where he spoke with Harris, members of the Congressional Black Caucus, and other prominent politicians.

In June, Harris and Quavo appeared together to address gun violence issues at the inaugural Rocket Foundation Summit in Atlanta, and following their 2023 trip to D.C.m the musician and his family launched the Rocket Foundation. In speaking with Rolling Stone, the rapper praised Harris’ consistent support of their efforts to end gun violence in the Black community, stating:

“She active in the culture. She wants to be with the things that go on in the field and I commend her for that.” This is a huge problem in our community, in our culture, gun violence. And just being a victim, of course, it’s so personal to me,” adding “I just want to keep building my personal relationship with her so whenever we address the issue, she really feels where I’m coming from and where we all coming from as a community. She got a lot on her plate as a vice president, so just engaging with her personally is the best.”
