In advance of his new album, Twelve Carat Toothache, arriving June 3, Post Malone was the musical guest on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live.
From his first full length since the massive 2019 Hollywood’s Bleeding LP, Malone performed the new single, “Cooped Up” along with his friend and collaborator Roddy Ricch; quite fitting given Ricch’s previously cancelled SNL performance due to a COVID-19 exposure earlier in the season.
Enveloped in smoke along with Fleet Foxes, Malone closed the longest running comedy show in TV history with “Love/Hate Letter to Alcohol,” an emotional new song from Toothache. The indie group stood in Gregorian-chant formation around Post, who wore a Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice-esque school uniform and two silver bullet earrings.
“I thought I died,” the singer-rapper bellowed into the microphone, his body doubled over with each lyric “Why’d you have to go and fuckin’ ruin my night?”
