On Tuesday (6.02,) a representative confirmed that the legendary love song singer, Peabo Bryson, had passed away under medical care after suffering a stroke over the weekend. He was 75-years old.
A statement from Bryson’s family read:
“With broken hearts and profound sadness, the family of two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and balladeer Peabo Bryson announces his passing.” “He transitioned peacefully at 5 pm ET on the evening of Tuesday, 2 June, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and those closest to him.”
Famous for being the voice behind such Academy Award-winning Disney songs as ‘Beauty and the Beast’ with Celine Dion and ‘A Whole New World (Aladdin’s Theme)’ with Regina Belle, the crooner earned two Grammy wins.
Throughout the course of his career that dated back to 1978, the South Carolina-born musician amassed a string of R&B hits, including ‘I’m So Into You,’ ‘All My Love, Gimme Some Time’ with Natalie Cole, and the slow dance classic ‘Tonight, I Celebrate My Love’ with Roberta Flack.
Married in 2010 to British singer and former The 411 member Tanya Boniface, the couple shared a son, Robert, who was born in 2018. Bryson also leaves behind a grown-up daughter, Linda, from a previous relationship, as well as several grandchildren.
In April 2019, it was reported that Peabo had suffered a heart attack, from which he made a full recovery at the time.
