Just hours prior to its planned UK broadcast, on Monday evening (8.18,) a new documentary about Ozzy Osbourne was abruptly pulled from the television schedule.
Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, which the Black Sabbath front man worked on prior to his passing on July 22 at the age of 76, was set to air on BBC One and iPlayer at 9 pm.Β However, the one-off documentary was abruptly removed from the schedule on Monday morning and replaced with the program Fake or Fortune?Β
Though no reason was given for the last-minute cancellation, a spokesperson for the BBC told England’s Mirror that the film has “moved in the schedules” and “new premiere details will be shared in due course”.
Originally set to follow Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s move back to their native England after two decades of living in America, the project was first conceived in 2022 as a documentary series titled Home to Roost. Yet, due to Ozzy’s deteriorating health, the program evolved over the years into a one-hour film.Β
Recorded over the course of three years, the documentary also followed the iconic rocker as he attempted to regain his fitness in order to perform live for the last time in Birmingham on July 5, despite battling health issues, including Parkinson’s disease.Β
Featuring contributions from Ozzy and Sharon’s children, Jack and Kelly, the film’s official synopsis read “It’s a remarkably candid and uplifting tribute to one of the world’s true icons, and documents the first family of rock as they are forced to accept, that, as Kelly says in the film, ‘Iron man wasn’t really made of iron.'”
