Condemning President Donald Trump for sharing footage of her father, Frank Sinatra, singing ‘My Way,’ on Sunday (4.19) Nancy Sinatra took to X with “This is a sacrilege.”
Responding to a fan who took to social media asking if something could be done about Trump’s post, the singer/actor/author replied “Unfortunately, no. The only people who can do something are the publishers.”
Ms. Sinatra reposted several comments from fans who pointed out that Frank, who died in 1988 at age 82, would not have agreed with Trump’s actions in office.
While one fan penned “@NancySinatra will confirm again that her father loathed Donald Trump,” another user added, “Trump may love Sinatra, but Sinatra did not love Trump.”
It was on Saturday (4.18,) that Trump kicked off the controversy when he took to Truth Social with a nearly four-minute-long clip of Frank doing a live performance of his iconic hit without any context, thus leading to speculation about his reason for sharing the video.
Released as a single in 1969, Frank Sinatra’s iconic version of ‘My Way’ became one of the superstar singer’s signature hits peaking at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching number five on the UK Singles Chart.
