As she took to Instagram on Sunday (6.09) in celebration Pride Month, Maren Morris revealed that she is bisexual.
Writing “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+.” “Happy pride (rainbow emoji),” the now 34-year old singer/songwriter confirmed the news alongside photos from her Saturday night (6.08) concert in Phoenix, Arizona where she’s waving a Pride flag on stage.
Following five years of marriage, Maren filed for divorce from country singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd in October, and their split was finalized in January, with the former spouses sharing custody of their four-year-old son Hayes.
A forever outspoken defender of LGBTQ+ rights, in 2023 Morris was honored by GLAAD and received the organization’s Excellence in Media Award for making a significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ+ people.
In her acceptance speech, the superstar singer/songwriter said “I’m not brave… making the right decision shouldn’t take bravery or courage. It shouldn’t take heroic effort to want basic human rights for everybody,” “Leaving your house knowing that you can face violence, just for being who you are… that is bravery.” “This community stood up for me and made me feel safe when I felt alone and I’ll never be able to repay them, but I hope I get to spend the rest of my life and career settling up.”
