The latest offering from his current Survive EP, Lewis Capaldi shares ‘The Day That I Die’ ballad.
The latest in an ever growing list of highly emotional ballads, the Scottish-born musician fears he “wouldn’t be here anymore” as he sings “On the day that I die, tell my mother I was smiling ‘cause I know that she’ll be crying.”
The third offering from his Survive collection, ‘The Day …’ follows ‘Something In The Heavens,’ and ‘Almost,’ a “raw and intimate exploration of what it means to move on – or at least try to.”
Though famous for his brooding ballads, the now 29-year old superstar singer/songwriter has touted his forthcoming followup full length to 2023’s Broken By Desire to Be Heavenly Sent to as an upbeat project.
In an interview with Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, Capaldi said “I would like to start making happy music. News flash, breaking news. Next album I am doing, it’s happy. It’s happy, happy stuff.”
Two years after Lewis was forced to end his set prematurely amid his struggles with Tourette’s syndrome, the artist made his return to the stage this summer at Glastonbury. And preparing for a massive 2026 schedule, he will headline The Isle of Wight Festival on June 19, and American Express presents BST Hyde Park on Saturday, July 11 and 12, play two nights at Dublin’s Marlay Park on June 23 and 24, Thomond Park in Limerick on June 26, Exeter’s TK Maxx Presents Live at Powderham on June 27 and 28, Cardiff’s Blackweir Fields on June 30 and July 1, the inaugural American Express presents Roundhay Festival in Leeds on July 4, and performing at Belfast Vital and Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park in August.
