“Love U Like That.” is the brand new emotionally charged single from Lauv.
The latest offering finds Lauv throwing caution to the wind as he addresses the complexities involved with the early days of a relationship, singing “Really old habits, really old baggage/Just walked away into your madness, onto your mattress.” “Used to judge myself now I don’t care cause/Hey, I love you like that.”
What appears to be a new chapter, following his 2022 album, All 4 Nothing, in a statement about his recent release the musician (born Ari Staprans Leff) said “Love U Like That,” was “about realizing you’re into something you didn’t think you were into and empowering yourself to go for it and not judge yourself and let society or ideas sway you from it. It’s the beginning of a journey, it’s a proud start.”
Following the June release of “Steal the Show,” “Love U Like That” is Lauv’s second offering of 2023. Included in Disney and Pixar’s latest movie, Elemental, the singer/songwriter wrote the title with the film’s composers Thomas Newman and Michael Matosic, and, in a recent chat with Rolling Stone he said “It was great working with Thomas Newman — a super, super talented musician and composer,” “I was very intimidated during the whole process, and somehow we made a song!”
