On par with her recent repertoire from her upcoming Chemistry LP, Kelly Clarkson addresses her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, in her new song, ‘Red Flag Collector.’
Though the professional couple ended their marriage three years June, Clarkson’s latest release reflects celebratory tone as she sings “Sure, you can have the towels.” You can take my money drag my name ’round town/I don’t mind I changed it anyway.” “I learned the hard way about love.” “Sometimes it just isn’t enough.”
Recorded in April at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, the video starts with the superstar singer/writer introducing the song by telling her audience “So divorce … things get said that you are like, ‘What?’” “You just get caught off guard, and you’re like, ‘I need to write a song or I’m going to set my house on fire.’ So I feel like the first one’s healthier. So you can tell by the title, it’s called ‘Red Flag Collector.’”
From her soon-to-be-released LP, out 6.23, Kelly previously dropped “Favorite Kind of High” and “I Hate Love.” “Having chemistry with someone is an incredible, and overwhelming, feeling,” she wrote on Instagram at the time she released “Favorite Kind of High.” “It’s like you have no choice in the matter. You are just drawn to each other. This can be good and bad. This album takes you down every path that chemistry could lead you down.”
