On Thursday (11.14,), Variety confirmed that Boyz II Men have aligned forces with producers at production/financing companies Compelling Pictures and Primary Wave to work on a feature film.
Comprised of Nathan Morris, Wanyá Morris, and Shawn Stockman, the legendary R&is B group group will also serve as executive producers.
In a formal statement about the project on behalf of his bandmates Nathan said “We’ve been waiting to find the right partners who understand our story and are willing to tell it all. Denis (O’Sullivan) and Jeff (Kalligheri) at Compelling Pictures understood us day one,”
In addition to the biopic, producers at Compelling Pictures are also working on a long-form documentary about Boyz II Men that will chronicle the iconic band’s rise to international fame in the early 1990s following the release of singles like ‘Motownphilly,’ ‘It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye’ to Y’esterday,’ and ‘End of the Road.’
Insisting that it’s a “tremendous honor” to be working with Boyz II Men’ O’Sullivan and Kalligheri added:
“We’re excited to show the brotherhood and comradery, as well as the challenges and strife, humour and heartbreak, that has accompanied the unparalleled success that Nate, Shawn, Wanya, and Mike have worked so hard to achieve,” they added. “And we think the global audience will want to sing along to a sexy, funny, aspirational, uplifting celebration of friendships and artistic partnerships that have stood the test of time.”
Boyz II Men are currently on tour and recently performed three concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
