Confirming his interest even if some of his bandmates aren’t. Joey Fatone addressed the long standing NSYNC reunion.
During his appearance on Boy Band Confidential, the 49-year old singer confirmed fans constantly queries as to whether the group will get back together, explaining:
“People are always asking, ‘Is the group getting together? Is anything going to happen?’ ” “Do I see anything in the near future? No, I don’t. Would I want to do it? Yes. Some of the other guys, sure. Some of the other guys, maybe not.”
Explaining that some members remain reluctant because they have young children at home, while Justin Timberlake has only just wrapped a tour and has been battling Lyme disease, adding:
“I’ll be honest, I always say, ‘Hey, why not?’ because I think I’m ready.” “I don’t think everybody else is ready yet.”
It comes as NSYNC were reported to be weighing up a 30th anniversary reunion tour — but without Justin.
While Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick are said to have held early talks about returning as a four-piece, with sources telling TMZ the group are exploring “the possibility of an arena tour without” Justin, who’s not engaged in discussions despite strong interest from major promoters.
According to one insider “The guys know the appetite is there for a reunion and that fans are ready for it, even if Justin isn’t involved.”
Having dominated the late 1990s and early 2000s with such hits as ‘It’s Gonna Be Me,’ ‘Tearin’ Up My Heart,’ ‘Bye Bye Bye’ and I ‘Want You Back,’ the latest update follows years of speculation about a potential comeback for the chart-topping boy band, who last toured in 2002 before splitting up and Timberlake launching a solo career.
With talks beginning before Justin’s illness became public, promoters AEG and Live Nation reportedly approached the group about 2026 shows, with industry insiders believiong the remaining members could still fill arenas, with the potential for even bigger dates if Justin eventually signs on.
In 2023, NSYNC briefly reunited for the recording of ‘Better Place,’ for Justin’s animated film Trolls Band Together, and appeared together at the MTV VMAs to present Taylor Swift with the Best Pop prize.
Lance Bass added fuel to the fire when he claimed on Watch What Happens Live that Sean “Diddy” Combs encouraged Justin to ditch the group during their 2002 tour, adding: “I overheard him talking to Justin being like, ‘You need to drop these effers, you need to go solo.’ ” “I was like, ‘I don’t like you anymore, Diddy… at my own show? What the hell!’”
