Inside sources have confirmed an entire album’s worth of *NSYNC “lost” recordings that have never been heard.
After the iconic boyband parted ways with Lou Pearlman and his Trans Continental record label in the 1990s, the now deceased manager retained the rights to the LP they’d been working on at the time. Causing them to start anew with their 2000 No Strings Attached album, the group doesn’t know what happened to the songs that were never released.
In an interview with People magazine, the group’s Joey Fatone said:
“There’s a whole CD, because after we dispersed from [former manager Lou Pearlman], he owned the rights to the whole album that we recorded, and that’s why we didn’t get any of those.” “That’s why we started with [the] No Strings Attached album, we had to redo and just do a whole new album.” Adding that there are still around 12 or 13 songs somewhere, which he may even have a copy of, the 49-year noted “There’s copies floating around and… the writers have either released it or put it somewhere.”
Including a song called ‘Tanya’ which “would’ve been a banger,” bandmate Lance Bass believes many of the songs *NSYNC recorded but never released are “probably just lost” in a vault somewhere, .
“[It was] a song that had different names every chorus.” “It wasn’t that good. It made it nowhere,” said Fatone.
Including Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick and JC Chasez, *NSYNC broke up in 2001 but have reunited several times over the years, and when asked about the possibility of a future reunion, Bass said there’s “always a chance,” but “nothing being planned right now.”
Admitting earlier this year that he’s always ready to get the band back together, Joey appeared on US docuseries Boy Band Confidential, explaining “People are always asking, ‘Is the group getting together? Is anything going to happen?’” “Do I see anything in the near future? No, I don’t. Would I want to do it? Yes. Some of the other guys, sure. Some of the other guys, maybe not.”
Explaining that some members are reluctant because they have young children at home, with Justin wrapping up a tour and has been battling Lyme disease, he concluded “I’ll be honest, I always say, ‘Hey, why not?’ because I think I’m ready.” “I don’t think everybody else is ready yet.”
