In order to recover from recent surgery for a fractured vertebra, Joan Jett has scrapped multiple U.S. tour dates.
Taking to her Instagram Stories account on Thursday (8.06,) Jett’s team shared a statement explaining that she will take time off to “begin the necessary healing process.” “Following a recent injury, Joan Jett has undergone orthopaedic surgery on a fractured vertebrae and will begin the necessary healing process.”
Revealing that, on the advice of her doctors, the iconic rocker has cancelled her September shows in Costa Mesa, California, on September 5, and Louisville, Kentucky, on September 24, the notice ended with “While Joan hates to disappoint fans, she will be taking this time to focus on physical therapy and healing.” “She’s looking forward to delivering tremendous concerts for many years to come.”
With performances in Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Wolverhampton and London throughout July, the medical announcement comes shortly after Joan Jett & the Blackhearts completed their first UK headline tour in sixteen years, It also follows the last-minute cancellation of the 64-year old musician’s appearance at The Retro C Trop Music Festival in Tilloloy, northern France, in June after a tornado hit the area.
Despite postponing her upcoming live performances, the musician is still set to celebrate the 45th anniversary of ‘I Love Rock ‘N Roll’ on August 28 with an expanded edition available on CD and vinyl.
